Parish Council News
Last week The Parish Council met. Here are some of the highlights of that meeting.

—Parish Picnic: The date of the Parish Picnic has been changed from June to the second Sunday in September, Sept. 13. It will be held in a local park. An outdoor Mass will be celebrated in the park at 11:00 a.m. (no 10:30 a.m. Mass at the Church that day) followed by the picnic. There will be food and games. More information to come.

—Ministries Fair: A “Ministries Fair” will be held in the basement of the Church on the weekend of January 11 & 12 after each Mass. Every ministry will be invited to set up and decorate a table. This will give every ministry and group an opportunity to highlight their particular ministry and recruit new volunteers.

—Lent 2020: This year there will be no “fish Fries” during the Lenten season. Fr. Bill has encouraged the Knights and other Parish groups to consider hosting a Mardi Gras party and fish dinner on the Friday before Lent begins. Fr. Bill is also trying to find a priest to come to the Parish for a week and offer a “Parish Mission”—a time for spiritual growth and renewal during Lent.

—Parish Photo Directory: Next year will be five years since the last Parish Photo Directory. The Council decided that we should explore the possibilities of doing another photo directory next fall.

—New Years Day: Fr. Bill announced that New Years Day will be observed as a holy day of obligation according to a pronouncement by Bishop Oscar Solis. One Mass will be celebrated on January 1 at 10:30 a.m. to observe the feast.
